Paid VR Live Events coming soon from NextVR
At the CES 2017 expo last week in Las Vegas, Dave Cole, CEO of the live-streaming startup – NextVR – that the company is working towards unveiling the paid events soon this year. Cole also said that they are working towards coming up with more subscription content.
NextVR is one of the most preferred choices of VR enthusiasts to watch live sports stream. Last year in October 2016, the company also struck a deal with NBA for VR broadcasting of one NBA game every week. However, this facility could be availed only by the NBA League Pass subscribers.
Cole said that in past few weeks, there has been a considerable rise in the viewership numbers and customers have shown a lot of interest in their services. The holiday season that was on since the mid of November to the December end saw a lot of people opting the virtual reality tech and buying more VR headsets during that time. Though Cole refrained to comment on the exact numbers, he said: “We’ve seen app installations go through the roof.”
As of for now, NextVR has no plans to give options like pay-per-view except for events like concerts wherein the customers can still enjoy the VR live streaming in case they fail to land a ticket in their pockets. For this, the company has already signed a deal in May 2016 with Live Nation.
